Functionality
Both applications welcome us by a dashboard. Recruiterbox's dashboard is fairly standard and does not give us too much edge. The Resumator team clearly took some time thinking about how to design its dashboard, and the time paid off. Its dashboard contains the most important information from the entire application (like preview of inbox, new recent activity, and tasks) and helps us to go directly to the area which requires our attention.
Both competitors deal very well with creating new job openings, they can publish them on our own company page or on specialized job boards like Simply Hired or Indeed. In addition they both offer various social functions like tweeting the new job openings or posting them on LinkedIn or Facebook. The Resumator has more functions here: in addition to all just described functions your company can encourage its own employees to share and promote job openings and this can be even tracked. So, if somebody will get recruited this way, you know who shall get kudos (and referral fee).
When somebody applies to the job opening, new applicant's profile is created in both applications. These are handled in a similar way; The Resumator has however more detailed structure with plenty of additional text fields and such. Importantly, in both applications you can directly preview applicant's resume (Recruiterbox converts them to a text format, while The Resumator uses third party application called Scribd), which is a great time saver, indeed. But there's something more The Resumator offers. It is a function called Jobnosis™. This little feature offers an automated rating system for job listings, which can help with improving the job description, formatting, etc. and thus helps you to attract more applicants and increase their quality.
Cloud Recruiting Management applications should enhance the team work and we're glad to say that both applications do it very well. All information is shared (depending on user's right, of course) and both systems have a notification and tasks/to-do's systems.
To summarize the functionality, The Resumator has clearly more functions than Recruiterbox (did we mention it has pretty reports as well?) so it deserves to win this category.

Customization
From our point of view, we see three important areas where a good Recruiting Management application should be customizable: application forms, job publishing (hosted pages or embedded code), and recruiting workflow. Let's see how our competitors deal with all of them.
When preparing new job opening in Recruiterbox, we can use already prepared questions for an applicant but we can as well make our own. The Resumator offers the same, but in addition it adds one great feature – we can attach a questionnaire to every new job. At the end of the day, both approaches work very well, but because of The Resumator questionnaires can be reused, The Resumator approach can save some time.
After having our job opening done, we'd like to publish it. Both Recruiterbox and The Resumator offer hosted page solution and a code to embed (like widget) into one's page. In the case of Recruiterbox, customization of hosted page is limited, but widget customization is very easy and broad. On the other hand, The Resumator has fairly good customization of both the hosted page (it lets us customize CSS) and the embedded code (though this one is a bit harder to implement).
Last but not least, let's see about recruiting workflows. Again, both competitors give us an ability to customize workflow to our liking and customs, but The Resumator also allows us to save workflows for later usage, so adding them later to a job opening is a matter of clicks. Good work there!
In addition, The Resumator provides great customization options of its email communication including setting up automatic replies, rejection letters, notifications, and various requests. We can also prepare canned replies that can save us a lot of time when we deal with many similar situations. Even though there's a way how to prepare canned emails in Recruiterbox, too, it definitely doesn't deliver this rich functionality.

Look and Feel
Honestly, this is a hard one. Both The Resumator and Recruiterbox have a nice look, are user friendly, and easy to use. We liked that Recruiterbox includes step-by-step wizards (for instance when creating new job opening) that guides us through the whole process, so we can use all of its functions. On the contrary, The Resumator has a very good philosophy of its user interface: the main building block are not users but job openings and applicants, so all the information is easily shared between team members (Recruiterbox thinks similarly, but The Resumator's implementation of this philosophy is just excellent). All in all, we call it a draw for this category – both applications are great from this point of view.

Browser, Language and General Support
As can be expected from well established solutions, we didn't have any problem when working with both competitors in all generally used web browsers. Concerning language support, both applications are available only in English and aren't especially adapted to any local customs. The Resumator can help with EEO and OFCCP reporting, which is a small plus. Recruiterbox offers support only via email, while The Resumator has its own Support Central where we can find a knowledge base or open a support ticket. The Resumator also has a very neat feature where we can submit a feature request and/or vote on other submitted features. Truth to be told, we never had a problem with neither of these applications (which says a lot about their quality), so our verdict is pronounced on a very leveled field.

Price
Everyone likes free stuff, right? Here, we can get it in the case of Recruiterbox, which in its free version offers an unlimited number of users and candidates applying for a job, but limits the number of active job openings to only two at once. The Resumator doesn't have a free version, but both competitors let you use whatever plan for 14 days for free as a trial. As mentioned above, The Resumator is significantly more function-rich, but interestingly enough not significantly more expensive.
Pricing of both applications depends on the amount of simultaneous job openings. Both applications have plans for circa $50, $100, and $200 monthly, but they differ in maximum number of job openings: The Resumator offers 2, 5, and 10 respectively, while Recruiterbox 5, 10, and 20 respectively. Moreover, Recruiterbox includes all its functionality in all its plans, including the cheaper ones, while The Resumator requires an extra payment for some functions in its cheapest plan. You have to pay an extra $19/month for User Groups & Permissions and Custom Design & Domain; Reports & Analytics are included only in the most expensive plan, otherwise they cost an extra $39/month. To sum up, Recruiterbox is a cheaper solution, but The Resumator brings a great value for its price.

Summary
Let's hear the final verdict. Recruiterbox is a nice and simple (but not simplistic!) application we had a great time to use. It does all we expected and we never had a feeling we were missing something important. On the other hand, when compared with The Resumator, we have to say Recruiterbox has a lot of functionality to add. The Resumator has plenty of useful functions, very well thought out user interface, and broad customisation possibilities. It is thus the clear winner of our test. Having said that, the good news is that whichever of our two application you'll choose, you'll not regret it.
